I am a sysadmin and developer working mostly in and around the Apache and OpenBSD ecosystems. Day to day that means mail filtering, TLS automation, packet filtering, log management, and generally keeping a fleet of servers healthy, plus contributing that work back upstream whenever it makes sense to.

On the open source side, I'm a longtime OpenBSD developer and a member of the Apache SpamAssassin PMC, and I contribute to Apache httpd, MIMEDefang, and a handful of smaller Perl modules like Mail::SPF. Most of that work comes out of running real mail infrastructure at scale; rules, plugins, and configuration management that has to hold up under actual spam volume, not just in a test environment.

Over the years I've also spoken at a number of conferences: LinuxCon, Open Source Summit, ApacheCon, PuppetCamp, and others; usually about whichever piece of infrastructure I was deep in at the time: LibreSSL, OpenSMTPD, PF, seccomp/pledge, SpamAssassin internals, and ACME-based certificate automation.
